It’s been a while since I’ve done a “Real Garage.” Let’s rectify that with a THREE vehicle garage and a budget of $12k. Only one vehicle may be a project, and all vehicles must be MY 1992 or newer.
*Bonus Challenge: All vehicles must have at least a 5 model year gap between them.*
I’m interested with what you come up with since I love cheap cars. Happy hunting and don’t forget, enjoy yo’selves!

I know someone who just grabbed a 2006 Accord and that is one of the best cars I have ever been in from a material and build quality standard compared to price point. Absolutely astounding.

You’ll be running more often than your garage it seems. The perfect fitness program!

1993 Mercury Grand Marquis LS - $3,995 with 36k on the clock, continental kit, maroon with bordello red roof and interior.
1997 Jaguar XJ6 Vanden Plas - $2,499 with only 97k on the clock. 4.0 Straight six, wood, leather, leaper.
2002 Oldsmobile Bravada with Smart Trak AW D - $5,395 with 98k miles...because that’s how you buy a semi-luxury SUV with heated leather that can actually tow things and not be a rusty heap at this price point.

12k USD = ~15k CAD
So, let’s give ourselves a budget of 5 grand per car.
‘96 Vo’ 850 Turbo, it’s not the R, but I always liked the later bricks, and one could make a very comfortable, practical daily. The automatic actually helps it’s daily-bilty (if you will) IMO.

‘00 Acura RL, big and comfy, perfect for roadtrips. Don’t really trust the transmission, because Honda automatic, but whatever.

And to top things off, a 2002 Range Rover. A car that can climb every mountain, ford every stream, and do it in supreme comfort and luxury.

I am willingly forgetting about your 5-year gap rule, because damnit, I like that Rangie.

1992 Toyota FJ80 LandCruiser ($3000)
(I bought mine off Craigslist for $2800)
1997 E36 M3 ($6500)
Here’s a somewhat rough one asking $6k, but you can definitely get a pretty good one for $6500: https://seattle.craigslist.org/see/cto/559824…
2002 Honda Civic 5-speed ($2500)
https://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/cto/562272…
No projects among them.

This is probably the only group of cars where a Range Rover is the most reliable pick.

Boxes checked: winter/offroad, sports/track, and reliable commuter (with good gas mileage and a manual). All reasonably reliable at the price point, and the 5-year requirement studiously obeyed. What do I win?

I found an Avantime, nice.

That’s an RX-8, looking good (I can swap it for a 2008 model with less BHP to accommodate your extra rule as well…

…And I just ran out of money. It’s still a manual Volvo estate though.
Turns out $12,000 does not translate well into £. xP

Too easy. To make it harder, I made myself choose three choices from different continents with three different body styles. Unfortunately, though, when I chose the Roadmaster I passed up a completely pristine SC400 so I’ll post the link here to make me feel better. Anyways, here are my three international choices:
1992 Buick Roadmaster Wagon LT1 - $2500 (137K miles)
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
1997 Lexus SC400 Automatic - $2500 (246K miles)
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
2002 Volvo C70 HPT Convertible - $3800 (132K miles)
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Total: $8800 for three running cars in relatively good condition. Who needs SUVs and sedans when you can have a wagon, a coupe, and a convertible?! One for DDing, one for weekends, and one for possible project car/restomod status with the remaining $3200.
